December is here, and Christmas time is finally upon us! This is the season to fill your home with holiday spirit for friends and family to enjoy. While there are many ways to beautifully decorate your home for the holidays, there are some things to avoid if you want to keep an elegant look.

Here are three tips to avoid a decor disaster:

Don’t over-do it. Remember, there is beauty in simplicity. If you have too many decorations, your look will go from merry and bright to cluttered and overwhelming. Select a few of your favorite decorations and showcase them in a room.

Stick to one theme. There are many styles with Christmas decorations. If you have the country Christmas look with lots of red, rustic decor, stick to that style throughout the house. If you prefer lighter Christmas decor such as whites and golds, try to choose decor that is compliments that soft feel.

Don’t ignore the outdoors.
