Summer is the best time of year. Most of us, whether we live in an apartment or home, have an outdoor space. If you use that outdoor space wisely, you have increased your home’s livable square footage. Here’s some things to perk up that outdoor living area.
Furniture
Think of your outside space as a living room with a sofa, chairs, coffee table, and end table. But, be sure you leave space for your grill or fire pit, which is essential to summertime entertaining. Another thing to consider is the furniture’s durability. Wicker isn’t your best option if you live in a windy area. Get something that will last like a sturdy teak or iron-framed outfit.
Material
If you have a covered patio, your options are endless. You don’t have to worry about the elements as much, so you can go with large, plush cushions. Those of you without a roof, you can do the same, but you’ll want to be sure to store the cushions away when not in use to keep your fabric beautiful throughout the summer. In addition, much of the outdoor fabric is getting better with its dirt and mold resistance.
Color
Don’t go with your standard beige when dressing up your outdoor space. Make it pop with color, pattern, and great accessories. Mixing and matching whimsical pieces and roadside finds makes the space your own. Again, this is an outdoor living room and you want to make a statement with your style.
Floor Covering
As you do inside your home, a rug ties everything together. A large outdoor area rug makes the space more cohesive and inviting.
Once you have your outdoor living room put together, invite some friends over and spend the evening enjoying the breeze. Happy summer!
