Using wallpaper can go beyond the traditional way of covering blank walls in your home. From sprucing up pieces of furniture, to enhancing elements of your décor, there are many creative ways to do so with wallpaper.
Try some of these simple ways to embellish your home with wallpaper.
- Enhance Dresser Drawers – Using wallpaper to enhance the interior sides of dresser drawers is a fun way to decorate an older piece of furniture. Start by removing the drawers from a dresser and measure the sides. Draw rectangles of that size on the back of your wallpaper. Cut the wallpaper and glue it to the sides of the drawers using wallpaper paste. You can use a plastic wallpaper smoother to remove any bubbles or ripples. Allow the paste to dry, put the drawers back, and there you have it!
- Bookshelf Background –Give a tired bookshelf a whole new look using wallpaper that compliments the room. Start by removing the shelves from the bookshelf and then measuring the interior width and height of the back wall. Cut a piece of paper the exact measurements. Apply wallpaper paste to the back of the paper using a roller brush and press it onto the bookshelf. Once in place, press with a soft sponge, starting in the center working out towards the edge, to smooth out any bubbles. Allow to dry and then place the shelves back in. Let your bookshelf be a décor piece that adds to the look of the room.
- Perk up a Pendant Lamp Shade – Why go and search for a brand new lampshade in hopes of matching it to your room décor when you can create your own? Simply cut a piece of wallpaper large enough to wrap around a drum shade, adding an extra ½ ‘’ so it overlaps. Trim the paper to match the height of the shade. Apply hot glue to the top and bottom edges of the shade and attach the wallpaper. Finish by securing the seam where the paper overlaps with extra hot glue and allow to dry.
- Hidden Areas –Using wallpaper in your kitchen, bathroom, or office drawers is a great way to customize your cabinets or desk. You can also use wallpaper behind specialty cabinets with clear, glass doors- this is a creative way to complement and enhance whatever is on display.
Wallpaper is not just for walls, there are so many fun and creative ways to add a touch of flair to your furniture with exciting colors and prints!
